Mumbai always leaves an unforgettable mark on visitors who decide to explore the grand old city. The largest and most populated of all Indian cities, Mumbai certainly is a culture shock that will not disappoint anyone seeking a spot of adventure, fun, and an experience like none they have ever encountered. Read on to learn more about how to spend a day in Mumbai.

Go on a Trail of Discovering the Colonial Past of Mumbai

India, like its neighbour Sri Lanka, has a rich colonial history that is integrated into the culture and traditions of the nation. Mumbai certainly has no dearth of colonial splendours to explore and going on a tour of discovery will certainly not disappoint anyone who loves vintage architecture. Head over to South Mumbai and you will suddenly see a change in the buildings. Victorian architecture greets you at every corner, transforming the aura of the area into a bygone era in Europe. Walk to the Prince of Wales Museum not too far from the train station for a full scope of the area's charm. Churches and buildings that look as though they came straight out of a historical street in London will greet you. Take time to visit the buildings and learn about their origins. If you do plan to spend the night in Mumbai, explore online and you will find attractive accommodation deals on offer. There are several sites specialising in popular touristy areas; for instance, Excellent Hotel Deals.

 Taste a Bit of Tradition

You know how every place has this one spot that you must visit. It could be a café or restaurant, where you must savour the food and drinks to become part of the well-travelled lot of tourists. Well, in Mumbai it’s Café Leopold’s. The place will not disappoint and does offer a variety of choices including Indian curry. The portions are large and make up for the prices that tend to be a tad above average, still, you are paying for more than the food. The atmosphere and the historical value are a part of it; Leopold’s was a part of terrorist attacks and proudly wears the bullet holes in its walls as a reminder and attraction to all guests.

Be Awed at the Prince of Wales Museum

A place that was a British colony for many years is definitely going to have a museum named the Prince of Wales, although this one in Mumbai is now called Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Museum; a tongue twister, which makes the more popular name still the Prince of Wales Museum. The collection inside is just as impressive as its modern name and boasts many treasures including vintage Japanese pottery. A fabulous place to get lost in for a few hours, the museum will not disappoint and certainly is an eye opener to the extravagance and grandeur of India.

 Go See the Gate

The Gateway of India is an elaborate arch doorway built to remember the day King George V visited the nation in 1911. The gate sits by the water and is an iconic attraction luring a bevvy of both local and foreign visitors. One of the best places to pose for your social media updates, the Gateway is quite crowded at most times of the day but well worth a visit.

 The Taj Palace Hotel

A synonymous feature in many movies, this iconic hotel is a must-visit. You may find several attractive accommodation deals online attached to it too, which means you may get to stay a night and savour the magic of the place.
